Johnny Storm, Noface - Egyptian Snow Review

Johnny Storm, Noface - Egyptian Snow (2024)

Came across Johnny Storm after giving Vic Spencer’s Being the Bigger Person Sucks an ear. His punchy delivery on ā€œ93 Mike N Starksā€ stuck out as one of the features on the project. At a time where many lists are finished and new releases get pushed into the coming year, Egyptian Snow dropped and I finally gave it a listen.

After the intro, ā€œWord As Bondā€ comes in with Storm doubling down over a smooth, soulful vocal loop. The songs ā€œWe Don’t Say ā€˜No Capā€™ā€ and ā€œIDMFKā€ pair well with the latter being a more sobering expression of the long game of his pen, and continues throughout the rest of the album’s introspected tracks.

The songs are short listens, most are single verses with a barrage of swift bars and no filler. ā€œWord As Bond,ā€ ā€œIDMFK,ā€ and ā€œI Wrote This Song In The Rainā€ being some of the highlights of NoFace’s production for the album.
